growing ...OLD
juz received a call from my sis (kuma) regarding ema or por2. Came down with flu and cough. Now mum really has all the sickness of what we hear old people used to have-uncontrolled bowels, deafness, forgetfulness-but that one i have oso and i am half her age!!! hi5 to my mum.
when she was in my house last saturday to tuesday, she will be asking to go back and at times disorientated with the place she's at!!!! Keeps on saying she has to go back to feed the chickens and ducks- funny cuz i don't seem to recall that we have ever reared any of those. for an old lady, she's very easy to take care:- eats anything you place in front of her. compared to me, she's so very much less choosy than me and many of us. I salute her!!!! it's juz that she can't consume all that we give her.
talking of old age-wrote this post nearly a week liao but forgot to publish!!!!

***holiday blues****
yes, holiday blues.... i really do get it each time the holiday starts-be it a short or long one. well told you in my last post that my holidays started last week, right? fyi, i've been having migraine, slight feverish and body aches like someone coming down with flu till today. sob...sob..
maybe, i think its due to the fact that i can't 'pat' anymore since there's no one to 'pat' with!!!! but you know me can still 'pat' when i do marketing....lol
seriously, i think my symptoms of sickness is maybe due to the fact that i stopped taking the 'ore teh pheng' (leng teh) which i take everyday. the same thing happened when i stopped taking kopi ore pheng. yes, i stopped liao except when i go to coffeshops. maybe its because i stopped suddenly - a drastic change in my day to day habit n my body system can't get used to it. something like cold turkey, you know. not like you ,jen, i can't cut down bit by bit !!!! now, i take plain water and since the weather is terribly hot, i do take ice once in a while. in school also, my collegues were surprised i stopped taking ice- once in awhile gotla.... in school my main drink is fresh orange (2) neat without ice. not bad eh? Everyone, esp my family was shocked cos' ice and me are an item!!!!.
but i think it's worth it cos my body also aches less and feel lighter. hjp. hjp hurray!!!

have around 3 weeks more to my year end holidays. not yet excited as have a lot to do before NOV 13 which is the last day. school reopens next year-JAN.
our school canteen day is on 2nov. asked to sell 'kacang' and titbits. cooked stuff susah a bit cuz you know lo- customers from my school. any ideas on wat else to sell or do.pls any ideas. meetin tomorrow.
next will be the 'anugerah cemerlang' -speech day or rather 'prize giving' on the last wk. my new gb-guru besar bought batik cloth and asked us to wear as 'uniform'on that day.juz imagine everyone in school like 'clones'. normally, i like that day cuz can wear something nice n classy to school. the cloth's pattern is veri 'pelik -very hard to make into any attire. to make men's shirt ok. first she wanted only baju kurung- and i really had a hard time trying to think of a pattern. if only baju kurung, the pattern will be somewhat like the pattern for the 'asrama'- hostel. veri 'lau beh ' and 'out' then she left it up to us to think of a pattern. well, i already sent mine to the tailor which happens to be the mum of wei's classmate. maybe this weekend will be ready.if the normal baju kurung, the pattern will be like the pattern the malays wear for the 'asrama' -hostel . veri 'lau beh' n 'out'.
will have final year exam dis week oso. have to mark 4 classes - 2b, 3a, 3b n 4b. only 1 class is challenging to mark. guess? 3a of course!!! the rest you 'bocor' the questions oso they wouldn't know.

eeee Exam fever.....!!!!!!
Ya! Exam fever. No, i dun have an exam coming but my younger hero, Mu-ern does!!! As usual it is not him getting butterflies in the stomach but rather it's me having gigantic ones in mine!
Well his pmr (Form 3) exam starts tomorrow (13/10/08) till friday(17/10/08). He's got 7 subjects-bm. bi, maths, science, sejarah, geog n kemahiran hidup(living skills).
For this past week, its me getting up early ard 3-4am in the morning and surfing the internet for forecast questions n printing out for him.
He followed mu-wei's formula - studied a week before his exam. Ern made history:- studying last minute like his upsr. Like most of us, we always procrastinate till the eleventh hour. Hung will say"never mind la pmr only....." There's nothing anyone can do to help him now and I do sincerely hope that he will realise the BIG mistake he made! Never mind, Ern :- SPM in two years time!!!!

racism - my thoughts on what c.huey wrote..
if i comment on her blog it would b quite long - "thng ka chui"(long backside hehe)so i might as well in my own blog so that u all know that i do update.
to support my comment when i said that i like interacting with the malays, here are a few reasons.
firstly, when i was in penang, i hardly had any malay friends from primary to secondary school. it was when i went to Maktab perguruan kinta(teaching college)in ipoh that i started mixing with the malays. it might be due to the reason that i was in PI(english option)and in my class we have Malays, chinese, indians n sarawakians- MUHIBBAH. i seldom mix with the chinese optionists cuz they are one kind- one kind in a way that they are hardworking, "kia su"(scared to lose) and selfish when it comes to sharing especially their assignments.
i say selfish because each time we ask them whether they have finished the assignments, their answer is always "NO". but when it is the dateline, my!oh my! Their assignments would be beyond words. They will spend so much on decorations etc. etc.etc. but for us in the English option, photostating from friends n changing the names would be good enough. Maybe that's why i don't feel the pressure during those 3 years.
then i was transferred to Baling, kedah after teaching in penang from 1988 - 1995. My first school here was SEK KEB TEMBAK, KUALA KETIL which is around 30 km -one way from my hse. that was in 1995 and that was when i started learning bahasa Melayu.
learning bm was not because i wanted to but rather forced to. i think my family back in penang can never imagine the standard of english in baling n kedah for the matter. if i don't speak bm, my pupils can't understand me. every English sentence i must translate in bm. as time went by, my bm improved a lot till now. as for my eng, it is not as good as it was.
in 2004, i was transferred to my present school. standard of eng is still the same. My beloved nieces n nephews-you all will be terkejuted n shockeded to know that here they can't differentiate -he, she, it, i, u ,we, they. most of the time i communicate using bm in or out of school. anyway, fyi people in kedah either speak chinese or malay. you seldom hear them speak eng. mu-wei n mu-ern also speak better bm n mandarin compared to english. GRAMMAR is terrible, horrible n vegetable in SP.i remembered teaching most of you eng and all of you had no problem learning grammar- tenses, subject-verb agreement n etc. etc etc.
the malays are simple, easy going, helpful n loving people. they accept you without looking at your status n they are very patient too. there are more reasons but maybe will continue some other time!!!!

puasa month!!!!
puasa month is going to be over!!! ard 6 days more!!! i love the puasa mth especially the 'pasar ramadan' (ramadan market) where i will go and scout for homecook malay food at the various locations. so i dun really cook much during this mth.
yes, i can cook quite well now compared when i was staying in penang. maybe it's because in sungai petani there's really nothing much to do and one has a lot of free time!!! Boooooooooring!!!! but i have to learn to adapt here. Come to think of it i know that i can adapt well almost anywhere.
my specialties are quite a handful; char kueh teow, bah kut teh with a few side dishes like fish slice in sauce and fried cabbage, hokkien mee (a lot of work esp with the prawn shells) ayam masak merah(malay style) ikan sumbat (fried fish stuffed with sambal) sambal prawns, kueh teow thng.
yes, i wake up very early every day- school days ard 5.15 am ! a time when most of you are in dreamland... i do a bit of hsework-sweeping, moping, having my quiet time and be the alarm clock for my 3 kings. then ihave my bath, go take the newspaper and get ready to go to school! the distance from my house to school is 34km one way. so i send ern to school first, then i am onmy my way to school which takes around 35 mins. it would be faster if not for the pot holes along the way. One has to be careful to avoid the other road users like cats, dogs which you are all familiar with. along my journey to school i share the roads with the likes of monkeys, cows, monitor lizards, kampung chicken and snakes. don't be shockeded!!! hehe
